Modular Paint Rack System - planned Kickstarter this summer
A modular paint storage and handling system built around paint magazines.
Designed for pegboards, mounting boards, and desktop stands, the system stores paints in magazines that can be removed, transported, and brought directly down to your workspace.
Expand your storage anytime by printing additional magazines as your collection grows.

Paint magazines — storage and transport combined
Magazines can be configured in two ways:
-
Demountable - with magnets fitted you can remove entire magazine for transport, bring groups of paint down to your desktop for painting
-
Fixed in place - for permanent immovable storage
Fit magazines with Yoke accessory so you can:
-
Shake up to eight bottles at once
-
Transport paints in groups so you can easily grab what you need and swiftly return them to the rack when you are back.
Note: Magnets are not glued in place, they are removable, so you can swap between either configuration using the same parts.

Pegboard compatible
Fully compatible with IKEA Skadis pegboards. The system is also in development to support standard pegboards with both 25 mm and 1-inch hole spacing, allowing flexible mounting across a wide range of pegboard systems.

Board Mounting your Paints
Limitless Options
Mount the system to a board for complete layout freedom. Magazines can be fixed or demountable.
A printable French cleat allows panels to hang cleanly from your wall without visible screws.
IKEA drawer fronts make ideal low-cost boards and they come in a range of finishes.
Build your layout your way — and expand it anytime.

Five bottle sizes to accommodate popular paint ranges
Magazines come in five bottle sizes, supporting the most common hobby paint ranges: The actual magazine opening sizes are, 26 mm, 31.5 mm, 33.25 mm, and 36.5 mm, plus a dedicated version for Kimera oblong bottles. Magazines each come in three or four paint bottles versions. Larger bottle sizes also have two and one bottle magazines.
Swatches to show true colour and finish
At the front of each paint is a swatch, paint these to help make colour choices and keep your paints in order. Print them in the colour of your magazine if you just want them blank or leave them off if you want to see more of the bottle label.
Desktop Stand
Maybe you don't want your paints on the wall, or you would prefer your paints on the desk while you paint. Files include a desktop stand that can be configured in any way you wish. A small stand when you travel with paint is useful, or an enormous surround stand if your entire paint collection stored on your desktop, the options are endless. Completely modular, no glue, reuse and rebuild to meet your changing needs.

Paint Rack FAQs
Are Magnets required?
No, the magazine can be fixed to the mounting bracket with a printed bolt. If you do want the magazine to be demountable then this is achieved by placing magnets inside the magazine and the mounting bracket. The magazine parts are the same part for both options, so you can swap between configurations.
Do they print easily on FDM printers?
Yes. All parts are support free and are designed for FDM printers.
Can they be printed on a resin printer?
No. Plastic is required for the fittings.
What surfaces can I mount the magazines on?
There's two options, pegboards or panels of wood mounted on the wall. We're used flat wooden door/drawer panels from Ikea, they come in a broad range of finishes and are inexpensive. There's a Desktop Stand too, see more below.
Panel Mounting - Fixing the panel to the Wall
Files include a printable French Cleat for hanging a panel without visible screws. The fixing of the French Cleat to the wall will depend on your wall type. As we approach launch we'll provide videos of how this works.
Do I have to decide on which mounting option I want?
No. Files for all mounting options are supplied. The panel mounts are brackets, they come in demountable and fixed versions. The pegboard option is a bar that fixes to the pegboard and the magazines attach to the bar, the bar can be used for both demountable or fixed magazines.
What additional hardware is required?
Small screws. 3mm x L12mm for the panel board mounting option. 3mm x L16mm screws for the Skadis mounting. There will be video nearer to launch sharing the assembly of both options.
Desktop Stand
There is also a modular desktop stand that the magazines sit on. The stand can be configured to be any size you wish. It's handy if you don't want to store paint on the wall or if you want to bring paints down from the wall and have them on your desk as you paint. Files for the Paint Stand are also included.
When is the Paint Rack Kickstarter being launched?
Summer of 2026 is the plan. There's no tweaking to do but there is some rolling out of size options, Magazines come in sizes to suit five common bottle sizes. The Skadis development is complete, this has to be extended to two common sizes of pegboard.
Between now and then there are two other products planned for launch, these are smaller but equally exciting, two types of Miniature Bases, and a Paint Handle system that won't disappoint. Also, for us, we can experience a Kickstarter or two before moving onto larger offers, like the Paint rack, a Miniature Rack and a Miniature Transport system.
